It seems that not even a complete drenching can extinguish the Millmerran Sheep Races flame.

With other events in the district clashing with our day, we organisers were a little sceptical of what size crowd would come through the gates of the Millmerran Showgrounds.  With the majority of committee members as farmers, to be woken to rain on the roof was not unwelcome at all!  It had been decided that come rain, hail or shine, the show must go on and go on it did.

As it turns out, families trooped in through the puddles and sheep don’t mind running in the rain!  It was an extremely damp track but the sheep took it in their stride and it would most certainly have been one of the quickest events we have witnessed in our eight years of running.  Spectators were treated to some very serious punting and there was plenty to keep all entertained.   The winners of the day were the “Ram It Up Ya” syndicate who would have been delighted with their $400 purchase paying out more than $1300 in prizemoney.

The Myer, Lilly Pilly, Merino Wool, Maylee Boutique and AWI Fashion Parade accommodated  the crowd with the latest fashions with local ladies strutting their stuff.  Once again the Fashions of the Field was a hotly contested battle and the judges had a tough decision with many entrants.

A change of plan had the side show entertainment assemble in the Show Pavilion which made for happy Mums and Dads and dry kids.  We are so very fortunate to have these well-resourced facilities in our small town.
